Space in Asia is definitely a luxury and you can tell by the size of my apartment. I have a one-roomed apt with a small kitchenette and a bathroom. Not huge, but will definitely work for the year. Here are some pictures of my pseudo dorm room:
Thankfully my room is air-conditioned because it’s been really hot. In Korea, most people turn their air off when they go to bed, not only to save energy, but also because of a Korean urban legend called fan death. See here for more details: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fan_death Needless to say, I’ll take my chances with fan death because it’s still pretty hot and humid.
My kitchen came equipped with a gas stove, rice cooker and teapot. Unfortunately there’s no stove which means no cookies or late night pizza but I guess that probably will be beneficial to my health anyway. Eating out is really cheap so I haven’t done much cooking but I’m hoping to start soon.
This is my bathroom. The shower is the small handle on the left and the blue thing in the back is my washing machine. Toilet, sink, shower and laundry room all in one- talk about a space saver! When I shower the whole entire bathroom gets wet. It’s a bit of a nuisance but it should mean less cleaning in the long-run. Also, there are no dryers over here so when I do laundry I have to hang dry everything on a drying rack in my room.
